Meet Beverly M. Strunk, MD
A physician. A working mom.
A real person.
I’m a board-certified psychiatrist, a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, and a Navy veteran. I’m also a mom of young children and a North County San Diego horse person—with a calendar that occasionally needs its own intervention.
Care for the people carrying a lot.
I especially enjoy working with young women, working mothers, and young adults finding their footing in college and early-career life. Keeping everyone else’s world moving can leave surprisingly little room for your own wellbeing.
My approach is thoughtful, practical, and whole-person: mental health belongs in the same conversation as sleep, physical health, relationships, family, work, and what matters to you. You do not have to arrive with everything neatly figured out.

Service and perspective
Military experience. Human connection.
My experience as a Navy psychiatrist and former Navy Lieutenant Commander shaped my appreciation for service, responsibility, and the strain of holding it all together.
My work has also included VA Compensation & Pension psychiatric evaluations. I bring that background to my work with veterans and military-connected patients, while keeping clinical care and independent evaluations clearly distinct.
Beyond the office
North County at heart.
Family, young kids, and time with horses keep me firmly connected to real life. I understand that a treatment plan has to fit somewhere between work, school drop-off, bedtime, and the laundry that has apparently become a permanent resident.
Early-morning and evening appointments can help make care more manageable. Headway shows my actual availability so you can choose a time without the scheduling back-and-forth.

Christian faith. Your choice.
My Christian faith is an important part of who I am. I welcome faith-informed care when that is meaningful to you. Patients of every faith and no faith are welcome here; spiritual discussion and prayer are optional, patient-led, and never imposed. Your care and respect do not depend on sharing my beliefs.
Virtual outpatient psychiatry for adults physically located in California. No controlled medications are prescribed.
